In the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, all Americans were reminded of the importance of being able to rapidly coordinate national resources and activities to develop strategies, technologies, and procedures designed to counter threats to the homeland, through evolutionary improvements to current capabilities and development of revolutionary new capabilities.

M2 Technologies, Inc. (M2) is a highly effective, consultative organization that assists federal government decision makers in developing effective policies and programs concerning academic research, technology development, and education and training designed to reduce the loss of life and property while providing improved security at America ’s borders and ports of entry.

Currently, M2 with its academic, industry, and governmental partners is working to rapidly explore and develop emerging technologies that have military, civil law enforcement, and homeland defense applications, e.g. Improvised Explosive Device detection, and Weapons of Mass Destruction detection. M2’s unique operational focus and our ability to visualize future conflicts and threats combine with long standing relationships in academia, the military, and all levels of civilian law enforcement to provide the nation with long-term research and development capabilities dedicated to the defense of our homeland.

M2 and its partner Kansas State University continue ongoing, promising work in applied research and prototype development to provide the Marine Corps with a small, portable, reliable and responsive stand-off bomb detection capability. The Stand-off Bomb Detector (SBD) will possess the capability to rapidly interrogate a “target” from a safe distance in a matter of seconds and determine whether or not the target is likely to contain conventional explosives. The target can be a portable package, stationary structure, or vehicle. This promising research could have multiple Homeland Security applications, to include screening of cargo vessels at major ports.
